Description
since 1997 manuel g. richter ventures for his personal approach to combine ambient, sonic art and ?common? musical elements like harmony and rhythmical structures and merges them into the music of xabec.
his intense compositional work essentially concentrates on tone colour and flux of sounds. the compositional progression is production process simultaneously, and the mixing stage of a production might feedback with the inventive effort at any time. with this approach to his music manuel g. richter invited twelve distinguished artists to transform compositions which he has produced during the last seven years. these artists create ambient and industrial music, sonic art and multimedia and have acquired subjective and distinctive artistic positions and methods of working, which mirror in the results of their adaptations. the artists had all the original tracks and sounds of the chosen piece at their disposal. some pieces consisted of only two, others of up to 25 or 30 tracks. the only task was to follow the path the sounds would lead them, whereas the artists were entirely free in their treatment of the material otherwise. some tracks are re-mixes, others are unique compositions which correspond to the sounds of the original. any artist having both an unique approach to aesthetics and an individual workflow, it is comprehensible and exciting to hear which path was chosen.
